FEP Film: Advantages and Benefits

FEP film, made of Teflon, is a key component of the resin vat in DLP/SLA 3D printers. It covers the bottom of the vat container to prevent photopolymer resin from reaching the screen of the photopolymer 3D printer.

Key benefits of FEP film:

When do you need nFEP film for your printer

Extra FEP film is an improved premium version of standard FEP film. It has very low adhesion to polymers (meaning less suction force) and provides high strength. This release film helps minimize print defects and increases print speed and quality.

nFEP film is suitable for use with most 3D LCD printers such as Anycubic Photon, Wanhao, and other devices that work with fast-curing resins.

When do you need PFA films?

PFA films enable continuous operation at high temperatures up to 260°C. A wide selection of accessories is available, including heat-sealed, welded, metalized, or laminated options.

What to choose: PFA or FEP

PerFluoroAlkoxy (PFA) has the same characteristics as FEP but is considered a higher-quality film and compounds have excellent thermal and chemical resistance.

PFA is ideal for long-term use in harsh environments with chemical, thermal, and mechanical stress.

PFA offers high melt strength, stability at high temperatures, resistance to stress cracking, low friction, and a lifespan under surface deformation that exceeds FEP by more than 10 times.

Advantages of ACF Film

ACF film is an upgraded premium version of release film with high anti-adhesion properties. Featuring a glossy layer (facing the resin) and a matte buffer layer (facing the vat bottom), this composite dual-layer material is resistant to high temperatures (up to 220°C) and UV radiation.

When do you need ACF film for your 3D printer:

• Strength. Compared to FEP and nFEP, ACF is less flexible and more durable.
• Fast printing speed. Quick setup and software compatibility help boost print speed significantly.
• Durability and reliability. This vat film is perfect for mass production with compatible printers.
• Dual surface. The glossy side of ACF faces the resin, while the matte side faces the vat’s LCD screen.
