Purpose of SLA/DLP VAT Containers
VAT containers serve as reservoirs for the liquid resin that will be used to create 3D models. They function to hold the resin in a designated position and ensure an even distribution of resin across the printer's working area.
Why are these specific vats used instead of any other container?
This is due to their bottom, which consists of FEP film. FEP film is transparent to ultraviolet light and projection light, allowing for precise image transmission onto the resin surface without distortion. Additionally, the FEP film acts as a barrier between the resin and the screen of the photopolymer 3D printer, providing safety and protection for the screen.
Maintenance of SLA/DLP VAT tanks:
Once you acquire an SLA/DLP printer, it's important to familiarize yourself with the operational rules of both the printer and the vat.
During printing, you should monitor the resin level in the vat, which can be aided by markings on its body. After printing, carefully drain the resin and check for any hardened resin remnants left in the vat, and remove them carefully. If not removed, these remnants can damage the FEP film during the next print and lead to resin leakage, which may harm your printer's screen. To ensure the longevity of both the film and the vat, it is recommended to clean the reservoir after each print with a soft cloth or paper towel. There is another important aspect of vat operation. Ensure that the vat is level and not tilted. An improperly positioned vat can lead to uneven resin curing and distortion of models, which may cause the model or the build plate to damage the vat and other printer components.
These recommendations will help you maintain your SLA/DLP 3D printer’s vat in good condition and ensure print quality.
