Volcano Nozzles - Construction
Volcano nozzles are designed for high-speed 3D printing due to their special construction.
Volcano Nozzle
From the image, it’s clear that Volcano nozzles have several differences from other E3D nozzles, as well as from MK8 nozzles.
The main distinction is the extended threaded section, which is fully screwed into the heating block. This increases the melt chamber size, allowing for much faster printing speeds. The increased thread length brings the total height of the Volcano nozzle to 21 mm.
Volcano nozzles share common features with other types of nozzles from different manufacturers. This includes the M6 thread, which is standardized for many heating blocks, and the 7 mm hexagonal head for a wrench.
The Volcano nozzle is designed to be used exclusively with the Volcano heating block. Using a Volcano nozzle with other E3D heating blocks or blocks from other manufacturers is not possible due to the extended thread length
Advantages and Disadvantages of Brass Volcano Nozzles
Volcano nozzles are designed for high-speed 3D printing. Brass, while a softer material, was chosen by E3D engineers for good reason as it offers several advantages:

Easily adapts to various temperature settings
If you are printing with standard filaments like PLA, ABS, or PET, a brass Volcano nozzle will serve you well for a long time. However, brass nozzles are not recommended for use with engineering-grade filaments or plastics containing abrasive materials.
If you have upgraded your 3D printer’s hotend with a Volcano heating block but still have a lower-powered heating element, we recommend using a brass Volcano nozzle. Due to brass’s quick heating properties and high heat transfer, you can still achieve high-speed printing even with a lower-power heating element.
